THE TOWN CRIER IS HARD PRESSED

THE TOWN CRIER IS HARD PRESSED

The town crier has been told that the hills are ready to give way and cause a huge land slide that will devastate their valley town. But the torrential rain has finally stopped weather is beautiful and the annual festival is this weekend and people love the ‘festival’ and it is his time to shine as mayor, after all we are voting in November.

As the town crier starts to shout out the news of the impending landslide, the mayor runs out of his office to stop him. ” What are you doing? Are you crazy? Do you want to keep your job? You know the Jones company likes this festival. It’s good for business! They are big contributors to my campaign! The people love the festival and they won’t vote for me if I allow it to be cancelled. That mountain isn’t going anywhere ! Stop now and tell them you were wrong and blame it on the ranger that told you. Who cares if he loses his job apparently he’s an idiot!” And he storms away.

Mrs. Washington walks past with her three young children and asks, “ What is the truth? No festival, no house, no amount of money is worth the life of my kids or anybody else for that matter! Please tell the truth! Please?”

At that moment does the town crier sell his soul for the money of the job? The job  that probably won’t be there if the town is devastated. The job probably won’t be there if many people suffer profoundly because he didn’t tell the truth. How could he live with himself, knowing the truth and not telling the very people that counted on him?

What does it take to be a hero? Caring about others as much as himself? Caring about others more than money? Oh boy, here comes my pastor. He starts shouting the truth telling people to leave town.

What was amazing Mr. Jones of the Jones company and the mayor had both told the town paper that they had to leave town on family emergencies  all within 2 minutes of each other and that they couldn’t be officials in the parade and that they were sorry they had to miss it.

It is our job as Christians to watch the events of the world and evaluate them with God given faith, we were told. However it has become so hard to determine the truth because most “journalists” have dumped journalistic integrity for the buck, money The news people are paid by giant corporations that are in it for ratings and money and have to follow the head honcho’s warped vision of his money and power. In fact,  he is deluding himself to think he can control corrupt politicians to get what he wants so they get the press coverage that they want so the journalists get paid what they want. Get it?

They lie profusely. They fight with their competition about their lies. The first rule of journalism is to report the news NOT MAKE the news and if you watch, much of the time in their broadcast is spent fighting with each other about the truth.

Lie by omission is one of their great tools. If you saw a report where a man opened fire on three high school age kids and the story stopped there we would think what kind of lunatic is that? The whole story is that the three kids were drop outs, in a gang and for initiation they had to open fire on the public with AK47’s and this man was a hero and stopped them. Lie by omissions and taken out of context is where we have come to. To discern the truth we have watch for the truth to come out. The ones that lied won’t cover the truth when it does come out because that would be admitting to their lies.

We see the financial world falling apart but so many in Congress have made millions of $ on what? Investments, really ? How were they doing this at a time when everyone else’s 401K was tanking? Are these the people like Jones and the mayor? How were they making so much money when they are supposed to be minding the country and the stocks were tanking? Don’t forget this happened. What is the truth?

We can’t ignore the truth just because things get better. Things aren’t what they seem in this imaginary world that we humans have created. The news is the story of lies, of town criers that have been sold out” Not all of it, but most of it. Knowing the truth is freedom to think and act. We can tell what a sorry state things are in when we can barely watch a news show without everyone  shouting above each other and talking at once.

How truly intelligent are any of them? And we are counting on them for the truth? Really? If we saw this kind of behavior allowed in a KINDERGARTEN classroom we would want our child out and OUT NOW! The teacher would viewed as worthless and the child’s whole year would be lost. Yet we listen to the fools that think it is o.k. for adults that represent themselves as intelligent to act like this all the while they are lying and expect us to view them as intelligent to respect their point of view. They don’t even respect themselves enough to demand behavior with self-discipline in a respectful manner. Why would adults think that the rules of basic civil conversation that we learn in kindergarten don’t apply now that they are ‘gwowed up’? We wouldn’t accept that out of kindergartners.

Christians are charged with being respectful people. Every person has a right to think what they want to think. Every person has a right to grow spiritually ..,or not. Even if we don’t respect one thought they have or one word they say, we are charged with being the type of person that treats people with respect as another human being, even if they are liars, even if they believe their own lies. The truth is the truth period. Acting like an angry out of control lunatic does not represent the truth well. People don’t have a chance of respecting what we say if we aren’t respectful when we say it. It doesn’t matter how people spin it or lie about it. The truth always remains the truth. We as Christians are responsible and accountable with what we choose to do with the truth.

We are also responsible with how we treat each other. In the end, it won’t matter how many lies were told to us…it will be about how many lies we believed…instead of God’s Truth

We have to agree to disagree because we are told to do that over and over again. People that aren’t interested won’t listen so we need not waste our breath. If only a few will chose the high road that Christ offered us, we ‘gotta know’ that most people will not like what we say. Christians can’t afford to play “the popularity” game. It will never work. The result will be devastating to us.

We also can’t afford to ” cornered by our critics” because responding to them then takes control of our mission, our goals and knocks us off the track. We have been told we will always be lied to. We have been told people will hate us for being his, Christ’s. We were told people won’t listen if they don’t want to. They won’t see because they are spiritually blind by choice. We are seeing all of this now on the news. But…we need to keep going with the “Good News”.

2 Thessalonians 2;11

So God will allow them to believe lies with all their hearts, and all of them will be justly judged for believing falsehood, refusing The Truth and enjoying their sins.

Hebrews 6;18

He has given us both His promise and His oath, two things that we can completely count on, for it is impossible for God to tell a lie.

2 Timothy 3;1-5

You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. For people will only love themselves and their money; they will be proud and boastful sneering at God, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful to them, and thoroughly bad. They will be hardheaded and never give in to others; they will be constant liars and troublemakers and think nothing of immorality. They will be rough and cruel and sneer at those who try to be good. They will betray their friends; they will be hotheaded, puffed up with pride and prefer good times to worshiping God. They will go to church but they won’t really believe anything they hear. Don’t be taken by people like that.

MATTHEW 5;11-12

“When you are reviled and persecuted and lied about because you are my followers, wonderful. Be happy about it! Be very glad ! For a tremendous award awaits you up in heaven. And remember that ancient prophets were persecuted too.” said Jesus Christ

1 Peter 2’17

Show respect for everyone. Love Christians everywhere. Fear God and honor the government.

JOHN 15;17-19

“I demand that you love each other, for you get enough hate from the world! But then it hated me before it hated you. The world would love you if you belonged to it, but you don’t- for I chose you to come out of the world and so it hates you.” said Jesus Christ.

MATTHEW 10;22

“Everyone shall hate you because you belong to me but all of you who endure to the end shall be saved.” said Jesus Christ.
